Mid-Season Team Report Card: Leaf Haters (Kevin)

Calgary (CP) Perennial GDHL contender Kevin landed OV-1 without adversely affecting his team... how the heck did that happen?

Significant Roster Changes:
+ Alexander Ovechkin
+ Chris Mason
+ Pascal Leclaire
- Evgeni Nabokov
- Tim Connolly

Analysis:
Not much to analyze here except that even though he lost Nabokov, he gained Ovechkin whom will be a keeper for him for the rest of the pool. He could afford to do this given the stellar play of Leclaire and Lundqvist. With an insurance policy of Mason, he will once again be there at the end and may repeat as GDHL champ.

Grades:
+ Forwards (A): Ranks 1st in G, 4th in A. With a combination of youth and experience, everyone is producing for the Leaf Haters with a 20+ G lead over the next best team.
+ Defence (B+): With 5 defencemen on their respective teams #1 PP unit, the D is a major contributing factor for points.
+ Goalies (A-): Ranks 4th in W, 12th in L. The tandem of Lundqvist and Leclaire have cooled off in the past 6 weeks but man were they spectacular in the first half. Pascal has 7 SO already and allowed Kwasny to make the deal for Alex. Funny thing is that I don't believe he will even keep the CLB netminder at year's end.
+ Special Teams (A): Ranks 2nd in PPG, 2nd in PPA. I always cringe when I see PIT score a PPG since either Whitney, Gonchar or Malkin's name is almost always attached to it. But it doesn't end there. Iggy, Hossa and Ovechkin just add to my headache.
+ Goon Factor (C-): Ranks 8th in PIMs. If there was one knock on the Leaf Haters is that they are soft. But they are also lumped together with 5 teams within a couple of PIMs to make this category not matter too much.
+ Overall (B+): A strong rating for a strong team that you can never discount. Should battle the Bruins for the GDHL title this season.
